The Eighteenth-century English harpsichord maker Jacob Kirkman produced many fine instruments which were highly sought-after across the world.
In this project, an original instrument of 1756 is paired with a wonderful, newly-completed copy by Stephen Barber and Huw Saunders. This will be a rare opportunity to hear two similar-sounding richly resonant English-style harpsichords playing together. The repertoire will include:
Mozart Sonata In D k.448
Clementi Duett in B flat op.1 no.6
Handel Suite in C Minor (reconst Dart)
Gemininai (after Corelli) La Follia (arr Doi-Luck/Devine)
Steven and Satoko have worked together on a number of occasions and are no strangers to audiences at Waterdown House. This concert marks the beginning of a commercial recording project to capture this wonderful sonority with these two virtuosic players.
